About the Event
Could a lost colony have once lived beneath the Owl Creek Mountains? Who were the mysterious strangers who built homes, mined for treasure, and vanished centuries ago? Were they Spanish explorers, miners, traders, or someone else entirely?
Join local historian Jackie Dorothy for a two-day adventure as we investigate one of Wyoming's greatest historical mysteries. Campers will become history detectives, exploring clues left behind by early travelers, Native American oral traditions, old mining stories, forgotten settlements, and mysterious artifacts discovered right here in the Big Horn Basin.
Through hands-on activities, outdoor exploration, games, crafts, and team challenges, campers will learn how historians, archaeologists, and explorers piece together stories from the past. Along the way we'll search for clues, build frontier skills, uncover hidden "artifacts," and discover what life may have been like for the people who once called Owl Creek home.
